Besides these things, I had food stored, shelter, a source of water, some emergency meds, some long-term meds I had rat holed over the years, a supply of firewood for heat, a garden to grow food in the spring and summer, some electric power, a few guns and lots of ammo, and game in the forest to hunt. I just had to survive and try to pull my family together now.

I had tried to convince my sons to relocate to my location. They all lived in cities. The oldest one and his family were on the outskirts of Nashville. They were the ones in the most danger. The other two lived in cities in northwest Alabama. Those cities were a lot smaller than Nashville. Not quite as dangerous as Nashville but cities of any size were dangerous places to be during and after the collapse. I had tried to talk them into relocating to my place several months before but they had jobs and were determined to stay in their homes. I told them that if things got too bad they should pack up some necessities and head my way. I had provided them with some two way radios and I also told them some things to do when the SHTF. The last time I had talked to them was right before the cell phone service went out.
